There are many countries that allow torture, oppression. People are whipped, burned, over-worked, starved, and many other things occur. These tortures happen even now, in places like North Korea, Darfur, and many other places that people don't think about. The government of the Hunger Games is all too realistic. There may not have been anything exactly as the government in the book but it is very possible for the United States's or another country's government to become something close to it.
For the governments that allow oppression and torture, we must stand up to them. We cannot lose hope, we must stand up to oppression and gain freedom and peace. We need leaders to initiate rebellions and we need people to follow in their image. Anyone at any moment during an uprising or rebellion of an oppressive government could be killed. It is a necessary sacrifice, I would willingly give my life to do something as simple as hold up a peace sign for it may cause an effect much bigger and much more important than my staying alive. I would willingly take torture to save the life of another innocent. I would gladly be a leader in the march for peace, and that is what I hope I am doing.
Be it a movie, be it a book, things like this happen in life, past, present, and likely our future as well. So let us respect what this man stands for. Let us recognize the sacrifice that people unfairly have to make but do so willingly like this man, let us be the kind of people that would also make this sacrifice willingly for the sake of others, and let us remember to never lose hope.
